Please Allow me to Introduce Myself
My name is Hamza. I am running for State Senate in District 27. When you elect me, I will represent everyone in District 27, regardless of your political affiliation. I will be honest, forthcoming, hardworking and diligent. I will listen. I will keep you informed. I will support commonsense legislation. I will work across the aisle. I will make you proud.
About Me
I’m a first generation American, born and raised here. My parents came to America from Pakistan in the 90s to pursue the American dream. Like so families that preceded them from so many countries, so many ethnicities, so many religions, my parents came here with the simple goals of raising a family in the best country in the world and contributing to America’s continuing success
My parents taught by example – hard working, honest, people who never shirked their duties to family, community or country. Because of them, I have been and remain highly committed to serving my community, my state, and my country – and doing my part to keep the American Dream flourishing for future generations.
I graduated from Union Grove High School in McDonough GA and from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems. In addition to my core curriculum, I tookinterdisciplinary studies in Philosophy, Politics, & Economics.
While carrying a full academic load at Georgia State, Iworked multiple jobs, not only to pay my way through school but to help support my parents and siblings. I interned in the Dean’s Office, conducting data analysis for input to Georgia State's College of Arts & Sciences $83 million annual budget. I also interned as a technical analyst at US Bank. And I volunteered as a STEM tutor for children at the Big Bethel AME church on Auburn Avenue in Atlanta – a non-paying “job” but one of my most rewarding experiences.
My education, broad experience, and work ethic give me a strong basis to serve as your state senator. After graduating from Georgia State (in the middle of the Covid pandemic), I worked as a business analyst for two global IT firms assisting their management and development groups and often serving as a liaison between stakeholders and developers. I helpedAmeriHealth launch its Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNP) for people who were entitled to both Medicare and Medicaid coverage in multiple states. Ihelped Anthem Healthcare advance California’s healthcare system through its CalAIMS and Medi-Cal Medicaid programs. And I worked with the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) to meet Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requirements and reduce securities settlement timesfrom T+2 days to T+1 day. (The DTCC settles more than US$1.5 quadrillion in securities transactions every three days – the equivalent of turning over the entire U.S. GDP every three days.)
Then, as the economy became more robust, I left the corporate environment and started my own company, providing commercial and residential construction cost estimates for national and regional (public and private sector) clients.
I’m ready
In other words, I’m proficient in state-of-the-art computer technology, IT, corporate business, small business, finance, healthcare, and the stock market. And I’m ready to apply my knowledge and skills in the Georgia Senate.
I just need your vote.
